more every day.
The 1st International Conference on Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, and Socioeconomics (ICESAS) is an inaugural international event organized by Universitas Pattimura, Ambon, Indonesia. This conference aims to become a leading forum for the exchange of innovative ideas, interdisciplinary research, and practical solutions that address the most pressing challenges in environmental sustainability, agricultural development, and socioeconomic transformation—especially in the unique context of island and coastal regions.
With the theme “Island Sustainability: Integrating Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Innovation, and Socioeconomic Development to Support the Blue Economy,” ICESAS 2025 brings together academics, practitioners, policy makers, and students from around the globe to discuss strategies and share research on sustainable island development. The conference provides a platform for presenting cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration across various fields, including environmental conservation, food security, green technology, marine sciences, and the socioeconomic dimensions of sustainable growth.
ICESAS invites all stakeholders—researchers, educators, government agencies, NGOs, and industry professionals—to contribute their insights and expertise. Through keynote speeches from distinguished international scholars and a broad range of conference topics, participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and networking, supporting the creation of impactful solutions for island sustainability and the blue economy.
We welcome your participation and look forward to your valuable contributions at the Santika Premier Hotel, Ambon, on October 28, 2025.

Review & Editorial Policy
Purpose & Scope
ICESAS 2025 upholds rigorous, fair, and transparent scholarly standards. All full papers undergo double-blind peer review coordinated by the Scientific Committee. Acceptance for publication in the conference proceedings is contingent upon successful peer review, in-person or virtual presentation at the conference, and completion of all post-conference editorial requirements.
What We Review
We consider original, unpublished full papers aligned with ICESAS themes—environmental sciences, agriculture, socioeconomic dimensions, energy & green technology, and earth & marine sciences. Manuscripts that are plagiarized, “salami-sliced,” or concurrently submitted/under review elsewhere are not eligible. Preprints are permitted provided authors clearly disclose them and do not violate other venues’ policies or compromise the integrity of double-blind review.
Review Model & Decision Types
Reviews are conducted under a double-blind model, with author and reviewer identities anonymized. Editorial decisions include: Accept (as is); Minor Revision (target author turnaround ≤ 7 days); Major Revision (target author turnaround ≤ 14 days, with at most one additional round if justified); or Reject (with reasons). Editors may request methodological or ethical clarifications at any stage before a final decision.
Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers assess (i) originality and significance—including relevance to island sustainability and the blue economy; (ii) methodological rigor and validity—covering design, data, analysis, and reproducibility; (iii) clarity and organization—quality of argumentation, figures/tables, and English; (iv) ethical compliance—human/animal research, permits, and safety; (v) scholarly context—literature grounding, stated limitations, and implications; and (vi) practical impact—policy, industry, or community relevance for island/coastal contexts.
Ethics, Integrity & Similarity
All submissions undergo similarity screening (e.g., iThenticate/Turnitin). As a guideline, overall similarity should be ≤ 20% (excluding references and necessary boilerplate) with ≤ 5–10% overlap from any single source; exceeding these thresholds may lead to rejection or mandated revision. Where applicable, authors must provide IRB/ethics approvals and informed-consent statements. Relevant collection/fieldwork permits, biosafety, and data-governance arrangements must be declared. Fabrication, falsification, and inappropriate image/data manipulation are prohibited.
Conflicts of Interest (COI)
Authors, editors, and reviewers must declare any actual or perceived COI—including financial, institutional, personal, or prior collaboration. Editors with a COI will recuse themselves, and alternative editors/reviewers will be assigned to maintain impartiality.
Use of AI Tools
Language editing and grammar/style assistance via AI tools are allowed. Undisclosed AI generation of data, analyses, images, or substantive content is not allowed. Any AI tool used and its scope must be disclosed in the acknowledgments or methods. Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all content.
Data & Materials Availability
Manuscripts must include sufficient methodological and materials detail for replication. Where feasible, authors should share datasets, code, and materials via repositories or provide justified access statements. Sensitive data must comply with applicable legal and ethical constraints.
Authorship & Contributions
Authorship is limited to individuals who made substantial scholarly contributions. Use of CRediT taxonomy is encouraged to specify roles, and a Corresponding Author must be identified to handle communication and compliance. Funding sources, permits, and non-author contributions should be acknowledged transparently.
Appeals & Complaints
Authors may appeal editorial decisions within 5 days of notification by contacting the conference via the official Contact page and providing a concise, evidence-based rationale. Appeals are reviewed by an independent senior editor not involved in the original decision, and the post-appeal decision is final. Ethical complaints (e.g., suspected misconduct) are investigated promptly; outcomes may include correction, rejection, or retraction.
Corrections, Withdrawals & Retractions
Pre-publication withdrawals are allowed upon written request with justification. Post-acceptance withdrawals may result in forfeiture of any fees already paid. Post-publication issues will be addressed through formal corrections or retractions in line with recognized best practices and publication ethics standards.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts, review reports, editorial communications, and reviewer identities are confidential. Review content is used solely to inform editorial decisions and to improve the quality of the conference proceedings.
How Reviewers Are Selected
Reviewers are chosen for subject-matter expertise and absence of COI, drawing from the Scientific Committee and external experts as needed. By accepting an assignment, reviewers agree to a Code of Conduct emphasizing timeliness, objectivity, constructive feedback, and confidentiality.
